A pilot study published in the Journal of Equine Rehabilitation investigated the effects of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy on the sole depth of equine hooves. In this study, ten adult horses were divided into two groups: six received PEMF treatment, and four served as controls. The treatment group underwent PEMF sessions at a frequency of 22 Hz for ten minutes, three times a week over a 30-day period. Radiographic evaluations before and after the treatment period revealed a trend toward increased sole depth beneath the distal processes of the hoof in the PEMF-treated horses. These findings suggest that PEMF therapy offers mild benefits in enhancing sole depth in specific areas of the hoof.
